De-watering of Radioactive Waste Sludge

While many devices can achieve effective de-watering of radioactive waste sludge, crossflow filtration using ceramic membranes is often favoured when taking into consideration maintenance, cleaning and decontamination, conditions and process compatibility.

The recycling of process water containing Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORMs) – radioactive contamination – is another challenging application. The crossflow filtration process can render the filtered water bacterially inactive and free of NORMs, which means that it can be re-used within the process.
